Each different printer manufacturer has it's own special shaped cartridge.  So one cannot use a Canon inkjet cartridge in an Epson printer, and vice versa. In some cases there are subcategories(famalys) of printers as the manufacturers like to give the  the impression tha their product features are not combinable into one simple inkjet line.
